Civil Aviation Handled 5.98 Million Person-times of Passengers during National Day Golden Week | |

During the National Day Golden Week of 2011, namely October 1st to 7th, civil aviation of China handled 5.98 million person times of passengers, increased by 5.2% year on year, and provided 42,263 flights, increased by 8.2% year on year.
Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) indicated that the transportation volume of civil aviation had increased steadily; the travel time of passengers to foreign countries, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan was relatively concentrated; the travel time of passengers for domestic travels and visiting friends was scattered; the increase of passenger volume of air lines to western China had become a new highlight.
As reported, driven by holidays of National Day and Mid-autumn Day and the Expo last year, the volume of passengers of civil aviation was increased by over 10%. On this basis, the volume of passengers of civil aviation during this year’s National Day holidays still gained a steady growth, increased by 5.2% year on year, which reflected the steady and sound development of civil aviation. The passenger volume of civil aviation on October 1st increased by 6.4% when compared with that of last year. The volume of passengers departed on the single day hit 965,000 person-times, which was a new record in the history. Except on October 3rd and 4th, the volume of passengers departed on each single day of the holiday was above 800,000 person-times.
Notably, from September 29th to October 2nd, the load factors of flights heading to foreign countries, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan were all above 87%. Especially, the load factors of flights to Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan were all above 90%.
In addition, the travel time of passengers for domestic travels and visiting friends was scattered, not so concentrated as previous years. On October 1st, the average load factors of domestic flights were all above 80%; and on other days, it was between 78% and 79%.
According to some source from CAAC, during the “National Day” holidays, the average load factors of flights departing from such traditional hot cities as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Chengdu were all more than 80%, and the volumes of passengers departing from such tourism cities as Haikou, Sanya, Jiuzhai, Wuyishan, Zhangjiajie, Xishuangbanna, Guilin, etc. were in the U-shape. In addition, the average load factors of flights departing from such cities in western China as Urumqi, Xining, Lhasa, Yinchuan, etc. had been above 80% for 7 days in a row. The increase of passenger volume of flights departing from western China has become a new highlight of air transport during the “National Day” holidays this year.
